During this week, we are asking parents/spectators/coaches to try something new for a week......SHHHHHHHHHHH!
We ask that you stay quiet during the games for our Mini 8 through 12 year old divisions. You can cheer when the goals happen or a good pass, but we ask this because we want kids to experience the game as just themselves playing.
Why? We want the players to feel that they have no pressure to make mistakes and to allow them to experiment. How many times do you hear when the ball comes to a player "Kick it!"...the ball is not a hot potato. We want the players to try a step over, a shuffle, something new and not have to worry about any negative verbal feedback.
What can I do then?
AS A PARENT-SPECTATOR: make up signs or banners...have the spectators all wear the same colour as the team...we're open to ideas
AS A COACH: sit back and watch what you've been teaching at practices, you can only call players on and off the field
